We are pleased to welcome Will Kurt to present: “Why Statisticians Avoid the Express Lane”

Most grocery stores have “express” checkout lines for customers with 15 items or less. Despite the name, these lanes are not always the fastest.

Will Kurt, Data Scientist at Quick Sprout, has a formal background in both Computer Science (MS) and English Literature (BA), and excels at explaining complex technical topics like statistics to anyone!

Kurt will explore the statistics behind choosing the optimal lane at the grocery store and discuss how statistical modeling and simulation can be used to make optimal decisions based on limited information.

Come join us for this fun presentation, aimed at anyone who wants to learn something new.  No prior knowledge of statistics is required!

You can read Kurt’s blog at: CountBayesie.com

The meeting will be on Monday, September 12th, 6-8 pm at Pizza on the Hill, in Tahoe Donner at 11509 Northwoods Blvd., Truckee. A $5 fee includes pizza and salad. Before and after the presentation, there will be time for networking with other technology professionals who live and work in the Tahoe-Truckee region.

The event will also be livestreamed and available online as it happens on YouTube: bit.ly/YouTubeTSM
