June 8, 2015: Intellectual Property for the Small Business Owner, presented by Richard Gire

We are pleased to welcome Richard Gire to present: “Intellectual Property for the Small Business Owner.”

Trademarks, copyrights and patents are just as important for the small business owner as they are for multinational corporate giants.  However, the typical small business owner may lack the knowledge they need to protect their business.

Richard Gire, Professor of Business at Sierra Nevada College, worked in the entertainment industry for over 25 years for the likes of Columbia Pictures, PolyGram, MGM/UA, Fox Family Channel, Britain’s Pearson International (producers of American Idol), and Sweden’s Modern Entertainment (owner of the Survivor format).

Gire’s presentation is designed to educate the non-lawyer on the intellectual property protections available to them at little or no cost. With President Obama's focus on small businesses and entrepreneurship, recent legislation has made intellectual property protection more accessible than ever to small business owners and start-ups.

The meeting will be on Monday, June 8th, 6-8 pm at Pizza on the Hill, in Tahoe Donner at 11509 Northwoods Blvd., Truckee. A $5 fee includes pizza and salad. Before and after the presentation, there will be time for networking with other technology professionals who live and work in the Tahoe-Truckee region.

This month’s event is sponsored by New Leaders, Clear Capital, and Tahoe Eagles Photography.
